According to Ayurveda, drinking water after meals is like poison. This eliminates gastritis (which provides the main energy and life to the body after digestion of food), so by doing so, the food thaws instead of being digested. This creates a large amount of gas and acid and a vicious cycle begins. Maharishi Wagh Bhatt has discovered 103 diseases which are caused by drinking water immediately after meals.



  1. There should be a difference of 1.5 to 2.5 hours between food and water. Apart from this, it also depends on geological conditions. Those living in mountainous areas should drink water for a longer time after eating rather than those living in lower and warmer parts. Because it takes time to digest food according to the environment.
  2. Water should be drunk before meals and 40 minutes before having this food.
  3. 1 or 2 sips of warm or lukewarm water can be taken to clear the mouth and throat after eating.
  4. If you are really feeling thirsty then after morning breakfast juice of seasonal fruits can be drunk and curd or buttermilk can be taken after lunch. Milk can be taken after dinner. Although they also contain water, they are helpful in digesting food and do not cause any harm to the body.
  5. Drink a sip of water like hot tea.
  6. Drink water first thing in the morning. This will heat the body temperature and it should be taken with a sip, which will lead to maximum saliva in the stomach. If you are only drinking water, then keep it in a copper vessel, it will not have to heat it, it will have all the qualities of hot water. The water of the pitcher should also be heated. People over 18 years of age and above 60 years of age should drink 1.5 to 2 glasses of water and others should drink 1.25 liters i.e. 3 glasses of water. This is the amount of water that you can drink without thirst. Do this activity for 6 months and see the difference in your health. You will feel light and fresh and it is good for sleep, digestion, pain and heart.
  7. If you are consuming water in the copper plate, then stop it for a few weeks after 3 months, then start again.
  8. Never drink cold water. It should be warm / lukewarm or according to body temperature. Blood does not reach some parts of the body by drinking cold water. After some time it causes weakness and various types of diseases like heart attack, kidney failure, brain hemorrhage etc. Often, drinking cold water is the main cause of constipation. This causes the large intestine to shrink which causes many complications. The same applies to other cold foods.
